Embarcadero Technologies and Meta Integration Technology Partner to Deliver Data Model-Driven Metadata Integration Solution
Embarcadero ER/Studio MetaWizard™ Extends Data Models to Solve Complex Metadata Integration Needs with New Interfaces for Leading Business Intelligence Tools
"The seamless flow between model-managed metadata and metadata residing in business intelligence repositories is now a reality," said Tommy Eunice, Worldwide Product Manager for DB2 Business Intelligence at IBM. "By combining these two solutions, you quickly eliminate the once painful and costly metadata 'massaging' tasks our customers faced when integrating metadata from disparate sources. ER/Studio can now directly 'speak' to BI environments like our DB2 Cube Views to ensure the most relevant, accurate, and up-to-date descriptions are used in critical data reporting."
By leveraging an embedded version of Meta Integration Model Bridge (MIMB) technology, Embarcadero ER/Studio MetaWizard now has even more robust metadata analysis and management capabilities, which are required by data architects, BI analysts, developers, and database administrators (DBAs). With these new enhancements, data professionals can visualize XML schemas, populate BI engines, or leverage existing data assets in new applications knowing that the underlying data is consistent, accurate, and trusted by users throughout an organization. They can also repurpose trusted data models without bearing the expense of developing and maintaining custom ad hoc metadata integrations.
"The partnership between Meta Integration Technology and Embarcadero has grown out of mutual respect for our technologies, successful use of our 'stand-alone' products at various customer sites, and demand by our mutual customers for a more tightly integrated solution," said Christian Bremeau, president and CEO, Meta Integration Technology, Inc. "Embarcadero's ability to solve data management problems through effective model-driven approaches is a great complement to our MIMB technology. We're very pleased to be working with Embarcadero to help customers achieve a maximum return on their investments."
"The practical uses of data models are no longer limited to generating SQL to create databases," said Greg Keller, vice president of product management at Embarcadero Technologies, Inc. "Enterprises are using data modeling solutions to implement enterprise data architectures and data governance solutions. The rich information found in ER/Studio's data models combined with the inclusion of Meta Integration's MIMB technology will help our customers truly manage their data, not just their databases."
Embarcadero ER/Studio leverages MITI's MIMB technology as the basis for its MetaWizard utility. Key benefits include:
- Visualization of over 30 forms of enterprise metadata as a traditional data model
- Reduction in complexity and costs associated with system integration
- Timely and accurate information from applications that rely on metadata
- Accurate and up-to-date definitions, standards, and locations for enterprise applications and processes that use metadata
- Transformation of metadata sources so that they can be used in multiple business application processes
- Further leverage of ER/Studio in business repositories and other data environments across an organization
About Meta Integration Technology Inc.
Meta Integration Technology, Inc. (MITI) is the leading metadata component provider to major database, data integration, business intelligence, repository, and modeling tool vendors. MITI has established itself as the "Switzerland of Metadata" as Lou Agosta, a Giga Information Group analyst expressed in an IdeaByte article. Much of this success is a direct result of MITI's focus on the fundamentals of metadata management and especially MITI's integrated metamodel. The metamodel extends the OMG CWM standard with the latest trends from leading ETL, OLAP & BI vendors. The strong collaborative effort from MITI's partners is allowing it to provide users with an unprecedented level of detailed metadata integration. The bridges offer exceptional processing of complex metadata, in particular the transformation expressions of ETL, EII, OLAP, and BI tools, opening new doors for version management driven lineage and impact analysis in a multivendor environment.
