Embarcadero Technologies Extends Cross-Platform Database Performance Monitoring Support to Microsoft SQL Server with Embarcadero Performance Center 1.7

San Francisco, Calif. - April 5, 2002 - Embarcadero Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: EMBT), a leading provider of application and database lifecycle management solutions, today announced the release of Embarcadero™ Performance Center 1.7, which adds seamless monitoring support for Microsoft® SQL Server™ databases. With the addition of Microsoft SQL Server, Embarcadero Performance Center becomes the only database monitoring and performance management tool to offer an "Enterprise View" that displays a complete picture of availability and performance of Oracle, Sybase and MS SQL Server databases on a single display.

In a comparison survey conducted by Readex Research, of the readers of DM Review, results showed that 89 percent of the participants deployed two or more database platforms. From that same study, 51 percent were using in-house solutions, manual procedures or not monitoring the performance of their databases at all. Embarcadero Performance Center addresses these issues by providing database administrators with a seamless, cross-platform monitoring solution. Tracking the performance of many heterogeneous databases is easily accomplished with features like the Enterprise View, 24x7 operation, "lights out" coverage with notifications, fast problem diagnosis, historical reports and the Health Index, which is a single statistic that conveys the overall performance efficiency of a database.

In addition, Embarcadero Performance Center provides one-click integration into DBArtisan and Embarcadero SQL Tuner, to immediately correct any administration or optimization issues. Therefore, administrators can increase database efficiency and speed while reducing downtime across the enterprise.

"Microsoft SQL Server has a broad and growing presence among our Oracle and Sybase customers," said Billy Bosworth, product manager for Embarcadero Performance Center. "With the addition of Microsoft SQL Server platform support to Embarcadero Performance Center, our customers can maximize performance across any or all three platforms now."

Availability
Embarcadero Performance Center is available for purchase. The server and client components run on Windows, and databases can be monitored on any platform.
