| Embarcadero ER/Studio Outperforms CA ERwin in Head-to-Head Product Review |

Real results achieved with ER/Studio two to three times faster than with ERwin. SAN FRANCISCO – June 8, 2011 — In a comparison product review conducted by an independent party, Embarcadero ER/Studio was selected as a superior enterprise data modeling tool to CA ERwin. The evaluation found that ER/Studio’s intuitiveness, navigation capabilities and ease-of-use surpass ERwin’s, enabling key tasks to be completed two to three times faster with ER/Studio than with ERwin, and shortening the learning curve for new users. The comparison review, which was conducted in March by DBA and industry consultant Seán Francis, evaluated ER/Studio 9.0.1 against ERwin r8 across five categories: installation & configuration, ease of use, features, performance and product support. An Oracle database backend was used for the testing. The entire review can be viewed at http://bit.ly/erstudioerwinreview. Francis assessed the tools’ ease of use, features and performance using a set of 10 tasks commonly performed by data management professionals. ER/Studio eclipsed ERwin in seven of the 10 tasks, earning significantly higher marks for its reverse engineering, schema comparison and native object type support capabilities. The tools tied in the area of impact analysis, and were closely matched in the installation & configuration and support categories. “We encounter a large number of long-term ERwin users who are frustrated with their experiences and looking to upgrade to ER/Studio, so this review validates what we’re hearing and seeing,” said Jason Tiret, director of modeling and architecture solutions for Embarcadero. “By delivering unique features like the enterprise data dictionary, data lineage and a web-based portal, none of which you’ll find with ERwin, we’re meeting our users’ needs for holistic data management, rather than just data modeling.” According to Francis, on average, it took two to three times longer to achieve the same results in ERwin as it did in ER/Studio. The fundamental reason was the user interface. Because ER/Studio is intuitively easier to learn and navigate, it makes users more productive.
