How to Jump Start Data Governance
In a little more than 30 minutes, discover the steps that you can take with ER/Studio to create an Enterprise Information Map and successfully jump start your data governance initiatives.
You will organize your models, create views of subject areas and processes and use a data dictionary to standardize names and bind models. You will catalog databases and derive data lineage. Finally you will selectively publish models and collaborate with a wider audience of business and data professionals.

Evaluate creating an Enterprise Information Map
Use the model explorer to organize your projects and manage queries & reports. Add security information for fields and insert business definitions with an enterprise data dictionary.
Organize with conceptual and process maps
Discover the ability to create a conceptual map of data sources and objects with an example that includes 3 subject areas: Lending, Online banking and Securities. Next view examples of process maps that you could replicate.
Create a Data Dictionary for your data governance settings
Use a naming standards template to update existing column names. Create and import attachments with PII information. Classify data with color codes based on security settings and other Data Governance settings using Custom Macros.
Bind models to Data Dictionary
Reverse engineer databases using ER/Studio Data Architect and bind models to an existing enterprise data dictionary that is shared across models and across projects.
Create a catalog of databases
Catalog all your database sources to obtain lineage and impact analysis capabilities.
Map Data Governance settings to models
Use ER/Studio Repository to collaborate with other data professionals to complete mapping of Data Governance settings to models. Manage roles within the Repository Security Center by assigning specific permissions including the ability to bind to the Enterprise Data Dictionary.
Tie physical, logical and conceptual objects together
Use the Universal Mapping feature to map related physical, logical and conceptual objects. Map generalized entities to its various manifestations across the enterprise. Also create sub models for greater reusability.
Reverse Engineer ETL jobs
Derive data lineage from ETL mappings connecting different databases and having intermediate transformations.
Disseminate to a wider audience
Selectively publish models to a wider audience for feedback and collaboration. Administrator has complete control on which models will be available to be shown via portal.
