Developer Evangelist Jim McKeeth to Discuss Development for Wearable Computing

SAN FRANCISCO – March 3, 2014 – Embarcadero Technologies, a leading provider of software solutions for application and database development, today announced its presence at Wearables DevCon, a wearable computing conference taking place March 5-7, 2014, in Burlingame, Calif. Jim McKeeth, developer evangelist at Embarcadero Technologies, will be presenting two sessions on development for wearable devices, using an EEG headset and also Google Glass.

The conference is a highly technical conference targeted toward the designers, builders and developers of wearable devices. Attendees will learn to develop for wearable devices such as Google Glass, FitBit, Pebble, the SmartWatch 2, Jawbone and the Galaxy Gear SmartWatch. They will learn tangible steps for real-world implementation of the next-generation of computing devices.

"Native App Development on Google Glass" Presentation

  • What: Google Glass is the next big thing in wearable computing, but few developers know how to take advantage of its features. This technical session will explore the current state of native application development on Google Glass. Attendees will learn setup and configuration of Glass for native development, discuss best practices and challenges encountered with different projects, and learn how specific challenges were overcome. The session will also include a few "interesting hacks" that involve using Google Glass in creative and novel ways.

"Is Thought the Future of Wearable Input?" Presentation

  • Who: Jim McKeeth, developer evangelist at Embarcadero Technologies
  • What: This presentation will cover the future of thought as input for wearable devices with real-world examples and code. Demonstrations will be shown using the Emotiv EPOC headset, a revolutionary high resolution, neuro-signal acquisition and processing wireless neuroheadset that uses a set of sensors to tune into electric signals produced by the brain to detect thoughts, feelings and expressions. In this intermediate level session, Jim will demonstrate the EEG neuroheadset and computer interface with examples of interfacing with desktop, mobile and wearable applications and discuss the roots of the technology, showing code and example uses of the technology.
