Low-cost versions of popular software development tools now available for SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Jan. 31, 2011— Embarcadero Technologies, a leading provider of multi-platform database tools and developer software, today introduced Starter editions of C++Builder and Delphi, its popular rapid application development (RAD) frameworks. These new entry-level versions give independent developers, students and micro businesses low-cost access to award-winning software development tools so they can kick-start their application development efforts. Delphi is based on the Object Pascal programming language and is one of the most widely used programming languages and development environments in the world. Delphi is well-known for helping millions of users rapidly build native Windows desktop, database, multi-tier and touch applications. Like Delphi Starter, C++Builder Starter is an entry-level RAD environment, but aimed at C/C++ developers. “With these new Starter editions, we’re making it easier for developers to access today’s most popular and powerful RAD frameworks,” said David Intersimone, vice president of developer relations and chief evangelist for Embarcadero. “At an entry-level price, Delphi and C++Builder Starter provide individual developers and start-up companies with powerful functionality to build native Windows applications fast. This translates into more innovative development from new talent and potentially faster growth for start-ups.” C++Builder and Delphi Starter edition users are allowed to have up to five licenses running simultaneously within their network. Users may sell any applications or components developed with these tools until the annual license or service revenue exceeds $1,000 USD or their micro organization exceeds $1,000 in revenue overall. Once this commercial threshold is crossed, or whenever users want enhanced database connectivity or multi-tier development, users should upgrade their licenses to Delphi or C++Builder Professional, Enterprise or Architect editions.
