How does it work?

If you're buying maintenance for the first time, be sure to purchase RAD Studio maintenance (not just Delphi or C++Builder Maintenance) if you want to get upgrades and support on the full RAD Studio suite.

If you already have maintenance on Delphi or C++Builder, your maintenance will continue to cover only that product. You can optionally move up to maintenance on RAD Studio to ensure that you receive upgrades to the complete RAD Studio suite as new versions become available.

What if I buy one of these RAD Studio products and I don't own Delphi XE2 or C++Builder XE2?

You won't be able to register your RAD Studio product if you haven't previously registered Delphi XE2 or C++Builder XE2 of the same edition (Pro/Ent/Ult/Arch) under the same user account. Refunds are not available so don't purchase the special upgrade if you don't qualify for it.

If you own an earlier version of Delphi or C++Builder (2009-XE), purchase a Delphi XE2 or C++Builder XE2 upgrade plus the $99 RAD Studio add-on.

If you don't yet own Delphi or C++Builder or own a 2007 or earlier version, purchase a Delphi XE2 or C++Builder XE2 New User license plus the $99 RAD Studio add-on.

If I have Delphi or C++Builder Professional and buy the RAD Studio XE2 Enterprise $99 special product, will it move me up to Enterprise?

No. Be sure to purchase the RAD Studio XE2 $99 Upgrade that matches the Delphi/C++Builder XE2 edition that you already own. The RAD Studio registration process checks for ownership of a previous product of the same edition. If you try to upgrade your Delphi XE2 Professional to RAD Studio XE2 Enterprise, you won't be able to register and run the RAD Studio tools and your Delphi Professional will switch to an unlicensed Delphi Enterprise and you will be unable to run it without going through the entire install process again to change it back to Professional.

When I upgrade to RAD Studio XE2, can I transfer my Delphi XE2 license to someone else?

No. This is just upgrading your existing named user license and that license must remain under your named user account.

If one developer in my company has Delphi XE2, can we buy a $99 RAD Studio XE2 Upgrade and give it to a different developer?

No. The RAD Studio $99 upgrade can only be registered and used by a named user who already has registered Delphi or C++Builder XE2.

How do I register my Delphi or C++Builder XE2 product?

You will be prompted to register the first time you run the product and later if you have not registered. You can also register using the license manager. The license manager (LicenseManager.exe) is located in the product bin directory (by default in C:\Program Files (x86)\Embarcadero\RAD Studio\9.0\bin on Windows 7). Find your unregistered serial number on the list, right click, and choose Register.
