The Company

Fink & Partner GmbH is an owner-managed German software company that has specialized in laboratory information and management systems (LIMS) for over three decades. The company was founded in 1992 with the aim of making laboratory processes more efficient, transparent, and digital—as a response to often error-prone Excel solutions and manual work processes.

With its FP-LIMS solution (formerly DIA or DIA2000), Fink & Partner has created a scalable and highly customizable software platform that is used worldwide in laboratories across a wide range of industries, from metal and chemical manufacturing to automotive production.

The Challenge

Today's laboratories face a multitude of challenges: huge amounts of data, heterogeneous measuring devices, changing compliance requirements, and the need for transparent, auditable processes. It was an additional challenge for the developers to create a system that was stable and scalable and that could be tailored to different customer requirements.

One key requirement was the easy integration of all necessary components into a single application in order to make licensing and installation clear and simple. The requirements of various hardware manufacturers also had to be taken into account so that these could be bundled with the measuring tools as an OEM version.

The Application

[FP]-LIMS is a modern laboratory information and management system that addresses these challenges on a technical and functional level. The software has a modular structure and can be tailored precisely to the needs of a laboratory—from basic functions for small facilities to professional versions for international corporations. Modules for test-order management, recipe management, and an electronic laboratory emergency call system have been added, among other things.

For over 25 years, the Delphi programming language has formed a solid foundation for the development of our [FP]-LIMS product. The backward compatibility of the language, which reliably executes legacy code even on Windows 11, is particularly valuable. Another plus point is the strong community behind Delphi, which regularly exchanges ideas at events.
